The champagne reception held in the hangar was decorated with a display of photographs recording the life of the heliport, Mrs Ireland was presented with a bouquet and a limited edition print of the helicopter circling St Michael's Mount.
Her prize is the use of the helicopter for a pleasure trip for her, her family and friends and a buffet reception at Tresco.
Mrs Ireland, who was accompanied by her daughter Claire, said she loved visiting Tresco, something she does once or twice a year. "I'd be quite happy if they plonked me down at the Island Hotel on Tresco for good - as soon as you step on board the helicopter, they really look after you and that level of service continues all the time you are on the islands."
The event was also attended by St Ives MP Andrew George and Philip Hygate, the Chief Executive of the Council of the Isles of Scilly.
